LC21 heeft onder de noemer Jazz ‘n Taste Drachten een nieuw evenement neergezet. Deze eerste editie is zeer succesvol verlopen. Bijna alle 500 beschikbare kaarten zijn verkocht, waardoor na afloop een cheque van € 5300,- kon worden overhandigd aan het goede doel.
‘Wij zijn meer dan tevreden’, reageert Carolien van Dijk enthousiast. Samen met de overige leden van Ladies’ Circle De Friese Wouden was zij verantwoordelijk voor de organisatie. ‘We hebben niet alleen onze serviceclub op de kaart gezet, maar samen met de deelnemende horecagelegenheden ook voor een bruisende zondagmiddag gezorgd in Drachten.’
De middag ging van start bij ‘t Smelnehûs, De Zaak, Binnen en Vintage. Daar werd live jazzmuziek aangeboden en een culinaire verrassing. Na een half uur genieten wisselden de bezoekers van locatie. Het evenement werd gezamenlijk afgesloten in theater De Lawei waar een optreden werd gegeven door een bigband.
Het was aan burgemeester Tjeerd van Bekkum de eer om het eindresultaat bekend te maken: € 5300,- ten gunste van het Kleurenlab Museum Dr8888, een vakoverstijgend project om kinderen bij kunst en cultuur in het algemeen en De Stijl in Drachten in het bijzonder te betrekken. ‘Mooi dat aan Jazz ‘n Taste als goed doel Museum Dr8888 is gekoppeld. Geen kind, geen mens kan opgroeien zonder kunst en cultuur, daar moet je mee in aanraking komen. Bijzondere dank gaat natuurlijk naar de Ladies. Zo zie je, serviceclubs leveren een belangrijke bijdrage aan de gemeente, dat is echt ongekend.’
Paulo Martina, directeur van het Museum Dr8888, was zeer verrast door de hoogte van het bedrag. ‘Hiermee kunnen we heel veel kinderen en jongeren in contact brengen met kunst en cultuur. Het begin is gemaakt.’
Jazz ’n Taste is mede een succes geworden door de sponsoren E.Drost B.V, Hypotheek Drachten, Confina, Vooruitzicht en FotoTekst.nl. Binnenkort wordt bekendgemaakt of en wanneer er een vervolg aan Jazz ‘n Taste Drachten wordt gegeven.
